Books by Peter R Fitton

Peter’s first book was Never Been Hit, a wartime biographical novel detailing the experience of Australian fighter pilot, Les Streete.  Les was an RAAF Flying Officer, yet he flew Spitfires in the skies over Germany with 66 Squadron, RAF throughout the closing months of the war.  www.neverbeenhit.com

Second book was Richmond Son, Peter’s own childhood memoir of his time in Richmond, Victoria during the 1950s.   Peter’s word pictures evoke times before the introduction of black & white television, the Melbourne Olympic Games, Sterling currency and the post-war flood of European migrants.   We had far less, but were still happy.   www.richmondson.com

What readers have been saying:

“A wonderful reminder of the intricacies of aviation. I liked the father & son theme and how they were drawn together, not just by the enjoyment of flying, but by the skills and attention to detail that are required to fly an aircraft well. Aviation is a continual learning experience – a common bond with all pilots. One never knows all there is to know. Your description of landmarks, landscape and townships in Victoria was a ‘voyage’ of discovery for me. I think the book would appeal to any person who is interested in aviation as a career.”                                                               Diane Watson, Urunga N.S.W.

“My father was a fighter pilot and then a delivery pilot (I still have his flying log book) during the second world war and so I was brought up on flying stories!  Therefore, there was much I could personally relate to your “First Officer” novel – a very well told story that I enjoyed immensely.  So convincing was the plot that I did wonder if you have actually experienced the drama described in the book’s climax.”                            Keith Stead, Portsea, Victoria

“I very much enjoyed First Officer by Peter Fitton.  The story reflected exactly what I imagine it would be to learn how to fly –  having to master all the skills as a general aviation pilot.  An aviation enthusiast myself, it was fantastic to feel like I was in the pilot’s seat, experiencing what the main character went through during the course of the story.   Clearly, this book has been written from first-hand experience.   It was a great read from start to finish.”                                                                                                                                                                                                Robert Pearse, Kyneton, Victoria.
